Academic Appointments

Prof. Dr. Marlon Patrick Lofredo, MA, PhD is the Chair of the Institutional Board of St. Paul University Quezon City, Philippines, and at the same time a faculty member of the Department of Natural Sciences, Department of Health Sciences, and Department of General Education of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education of the same University, teaching courses in philosophy, bioethics, advances in science and technology, medical anthropology, forensic ethics, biotechnology, research, etc. He graduated with a Masters in Bioethics from University of Santo Tomas, and a PhD in Bioethics and Sustainability at American University of Sovereign Nations, Arizona, USA.

He is also a Visiting Professor of Bioethics and Hospital Administration Ethics at the Graduate School of the College of Health Sciences at St. Paul University Manila, Philippines, and a Visiting Professor in Bioethics, Sustainability, and Environmental Ethics at the American University of Sovereign Nations (AUSN), Arizona, USA.

He has delivered lectures on various issues in bioethics in several countries in Asia and Europe and has been engaged with the Asian Bioethics Association since 2012, and served as Chair of the 16th Asian Bioethics Conference.

Marlon is a member and officer in organizations and institutes such as the Foundation for Critical Thinking, Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy, Research Council in Values and Philosophy, European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Health Care, Amici de la Ponticia Academia Pro Vita (Pontifical Academy for Life), Asian Bioethics Association, etc.

He is also a member of the Committee on Evaluation of Teaching and Training the International Forum of Teachers of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics. He has published and presented papers in local and international journals and conferences and is a consultant on human and organizational development, as well as in hospital and health care ethics boards in the Philippines. His most recent publication is a book entitled “Research for University Students: A Thesis Writing Manual” published by the Center for Social Innovation and Research of SPUQC.
